ZZ To The Top

The Nomad had been in for a brake upgrade and there we were in Crewkerne looking for somewhere to bed them in. Zig Zag Hill, obviously.
Just over the Somerset border into Dorset, up by Wiltshire, is a short stretch of alpine curves - not much, over in less than a minute - but it's enough.
Being a short hill it is necessary to try it both up and down, though up is best. Four nice tight corners, then a faster sweeping curve onto a straight and out of the woods with Wiltshire to the left and Dorset to the right.
The road runs up Breeze Hill, apt on our visit when there was the promise of a storm. There's a handy layby at the top for turning but not at the bottom. If you don't want to annoy the locals by turning in their drives there's a loop running down the hill, left along the narrow White Pit Lane, left onto Spread Eagle Hill, and left again by the airfield to zip up to the B3081 and back to the top layby.
